"Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."
~ Colossians 3:16 ~
The Heritage Hour at New Life Church is a time each Lord's Day before our Worship Service, where we join together for a time of singing the old hymns of the faith and a time of Bible Study. The word ‘Heritage’ has several connotations in the English Language. One is that there is something that is passed down from preceding generations; another is that heritage is a status acquired by a person through birth, a birthright.
As those who have been adopted into the family of God through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we have a birthright of infinite value. As such, we belong to a vast family of faith with brothers and sisters from all places, cultures, backgrounds, and times…and not just from the 21st Century. We are privileged to be joined together in such a long line of Christians who have devoted their lives to the service of King Jesus in times past.
Each week, after our time of singing hymns of worship to Christ our King, there is a time for thoughtful discussion and honest fellowship where everyone is encouraged to share insights from the Bible Study and ask questions that may arise from the study that week. The friendly atmosphere allows for both long-term members of the group as well as someone attending for the first time to find, and grow in their, connection to Christ and others in the group.
The hymns and other songs that we sing together each week are carefully chosen to reflect true gospel-centered theology as integral to our weekly gathering’s Bible Study. The lessons we share seek to deepen our knowledge of Scripture with an aim of loving Christ our Savior more and more each time we gather.
We believe that the Heritage Hour offers a meaningful space to grow in faith and find a time of Gospel-Centered fellowship with others.
We invite you to join us this Lord's Day at 9:15 am in the Heritage Room (down the hall from the nursery) and look forward to seeing how this time together grows your faith, deepens your appreciation for the old hymns of our faith, and helps you connect to the community of faith that is New Life Church.
